On 5 December 1999, five Chinese waiters were arrested following a racist attack by five white youths.
The incident happened at the New Diamond restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, London. The five racists smashed up the restaurant and racially abused and threatened staff.
When the waiters called the police there was no initial response. When they did eventually attend the scene they arrested five waiters. None have been charged.
